Overview

The guide is meant to help someone who is not represented by a lawyer find the resources needed to hire an attorney.

 

This information is not meant to replace State laws or Court Rules. The purpose of this guide is to give general information.  You have a right to represent yourself in court, but it comes with the responsibility to follow certain court rules and procedures.  If you have any questions, please speak with an attoney about your case.

For assistance locating an attorney in your area, please contact the Louisiana State Bar Association at 1-800-421-LSBA (5722).

If you are unable to afford an attorney, you may be eligible for free representation depending on your income and other factors. The following is a list of free or reduced fee legal service providers. Please note that the demand for legal services is extremely high and these organizations may not be able to represent you.
